[Financial News] Everland's twin pandas Rui Bao and Hui Bao, who are moving to China this December, will undergo a month of pre-export quarantine starting on the 13th of next month. They are expected to meet visitors on a limited basis during the quarantine period, with their final public viewing scheduled for Dec. 11.
Everland, the resort division of Samsung C&T, said on the 19th that it would conduct the pre-export quarantine required for the international transfer of wild animals at Panda Second House, where Rui Bao and Hui Bao live.
Under an agreement requiring pandas born overseas to move to China before they turn 4, when they become capable of breeding, the twins, born in July 2023, are scheduled to move to China in the third week of December this year. The exact date and location of the move will be finalized after reviewing temperatures and local conditions. If they move as planned, Rui Bao and Hui Bao will begin a new life in China about three years and five months after being born in Korea.
The twins are also expected to be shown to visitors on a limited basis in the indoor enclosure at Panda Second House during the quarantine period. Built last year, Panda Second House has a self-contained indoor enclosure completely isolated from the outside, allowing visitors while meeting quarantine standards, Everland explained.
An Everland official said, "We plan to carefully monitor the twins' health and the progress of quarantine and transport preparations as we coordinate the viewing hours, arrangements and schedule." Details, including the final public viewing date, may change depending on conditions on site.
Everland is also preparing programs for visitors ahead of the twins' move to China. In November, it will hold a "Zookeeper Talk Concert" featuring panda zookeepers, including Kang Cheol-won and Song Young-gwan. The keepers will share stories about the twins' growth and care while watching previously unreleased footage of their development. Details on how to apply will be announced later.
An Instagram photo contest featuring the twin pandas runs through the 21st. The best entries among photos submitted with the designated hashtag will be selected to receive Everland admission tickets and instant cameras.
Everland will host screenings of videos chronicling the twins' growth. Videos of the twins filmed by zookeepers and cast members using film cameras will be released one by one on social media (SNS).
