[Financial News] Korea National Railway won the Product Development Innovation Award for developing merchandise featuring its official character, Railo. The award recognized its achievements in jointly developing 73 merchandise items with social enterprises, supporting the expansion of sales channels and achieving cumulative sales of 100 million won.
Korea National Railway said on the 19th that it had won the Product Development Innovation Award at the awards ceremony for the 2026 Korea Local Government and Public Character Festival, held at the Daejeon Convention Center on the 17th.
Korea National Railway formed the “KR Goods Team” with social enterprises and introduced 73 products in total, including keycaps and keyrings featuring the Railo character. This is a mutually beneficial model that uses the character to communicate with the public while expanding partner companies’ sales channels and revenue.
The products are sold at offline stores in major railway stations, including Seoul, Suseo and Busan, and online at RAILO SHOP. Cumulative sales have topped 100 million won since the stores opened in 2025.
Efforts to publicize examples of mutually beneficial cooperation also continued. At the 3rd Korea Social Value Festa, held last September, the agency displayed Railo merchandise and shared the process and results of its collaboration with social enterprises.
At the 2026 Daejeon Content Fair, held from the 16th to the 18th of this month, the agency displayed Railo merchandise and ran an interactive promotional booth, expanding opportunities to engage with visitors.
Chairman Jung Jin-hyeok said, “This award is the result of working through ideas together with social enterprises, developing them into products and creating tangible results.” He added, “We will continue to grow alongside our partner companies and get closer to the public by developing a variety of content featuring our character.”
