[Financial News] K Bank has established a framework for managing and operating AI responsibly as it expands its artificial intelligence (AI) services. The bank plans to expand financial services that customers can use with confidence by establishing AI ethics principles and an enterprise-wide management framework.
According to the financial industry on the 19th, K Bank received certification last month for ISO/IEC 42001, the international standard for AI management systems (AIMS).
ISO/IEC 42001 is an international standard for AI management systems jointly established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). It sets out management frameworks for risk and data management, security, ethics and transparency that organizations developing or using AI must have in place.
With this certification, K Bank was recognized for having a system that meets international standards for identifying and managing risks that may arise throughout the planning, development and operation of AI services.
To that end, K Bank established “AI Ethics Principles,” which set out standards for AI use, and put in place policies for each stage as well as internal guidelines. It also established enterprise-wide governance to manage risks associated with AI use.
K Bank uses AI across its customer services and internal operations.
It launched “AI Unified Search,” powered by generative AI, and “AI Transfer,” which lets users send money conversationally through text or voice. Internally, it introduced “agentic AI” to support developers in writing code and analyzing and improving systems.
A K Bank representative said, “As AI use expands rapidly, it is important to have a framework in place to manage it safely and responsibly,” adding, “Building on this ISO/IEC 42001 certification, we will continue to advance our AI governance and risk management systems and expand AI financial services that customers can use with confidence.”
Meanwhile, after a two-month pilot confirmed the potential for applying the agentic AI introduced by K Bank, it is now supporting the entire development process. Built within the company’s internal network, it can use information linked to various in-house systems—not only for code generation, but also information on relevant personnel, internal regulations, development standards and work formats. K Bank plans to build greater trust in and safety of AI, and continue to drive responsible innovation in AI-based financial services, based on this certification and the establishment of AI governance.
