[Financial News] Koo Kwang-mo, chairman of LG Group, will chair business review meetings for all affiliates for about a month starting on the 19th, reviewing this year’s management performance and next year’s business strategy. In particular, he is expected to focus on assessing business competitiveness in future growth areas such as AI factories and physical AI, and on turning cooperation with global tech giants including Nvidia and Microsoft (MS) into concrete results.
According to industry sources, LG Group is beginning affiliate-by-affiliate business review meetings chaired by Koo today. CEOs and business division heads from each affiliate will attend to focus on reviewing this year’s business results and next year’s business plans.
The business review meetings are expected to run for about a month, starting with electronics affiliates such as LG Electronics, LG Display and LG Innotek, followed by chemical affiliates such as LG Energy Solution and LG Chem, and then telecommunications and services affiliates such as LG Uplus and LG CNS.
Securing business opportunities in future growth areas, including AI, and the execution strategies of each affiliate are expected to be key agenda items at the meetings. In particular, they are expected to discuss investment results and ways to strengthen competitiveness in key initiatives being pursued at the group level, such as AI factories, physical AI and AI transformation (AX).
This year, LG Group has selected key agenda items at its quarterly meetings of senior executives and reviewed the competitiveness of its future businesses in order to advance its business portfolio. In March, it focused on AX execution; in June, on “winning R&D”; and in September, on refining its investment strategy.
At the September meeting of senior executives, the group focused on reviewing investment strategies and results in key areas such as AI factories, physical AI and AX to respond to new growth opportunities in the AI era. Koo urged them at the time, “To win in the future AI battlegrounds, I ask our senior executives to move quickly and execute relentlessly.”
Follow-up action plans to turn cooperation with global tech giants into concrete business results are also expected to be a key topic of discussion. This year, LG Group has made its cooperation with Nvidia more concrete in AI factories, physical AI and mobility, and has also decided to expand its cooperation with Microsoft across AI infrastructure.
LG Group is expanding this cooperation beyond individual affiliates through its “ONE LG” strategy, which brings together capabilities from across the group. The plan is to link technologies and business capabilities across affiliates to boost synergies and turn cooperation with global tech giants into tangible business results in AI.
The meetings are also expected to cover a broad range of topics, including each affiliate’s business plans, ways to expand cooperation at the group level, and investment and execution strategies for securing future growth drivers.
