[Financial News] Hana Bank has added approximately 3.8 trillion won to its retirement pension reserves so far this year, ranking first among banks in cumulative growth through the third quarter. With funds flowing primarily into individual retirement pension (IRP) and defined contribution (DC) plans, the bank is stepping up efforts to attract pension customers through in-person consultations and a broader range of investment products.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's Integrated Pension Portal comparative disclosure of retirement pension data on the 19th, Hana Bank had total retirement pension reserves of 52.1554 trillion won at the end of September, up 3.7741 trillion won from the end of last year.
By type, growth was led by increases of 3.0996 trillion won in IRP reserves and 1.2931 trillion won in DC reserves.
Hana Bank ranked No. 1 among banks in growth in retirement pension reserves for three consecutive years, from 2023 to 2025, and has maintained its lead through the third quarter of this year.
Hana Bank is expanding its in-person consultation locations for pension customers through its specialized Pension The Dream Lounge channel, which offers face-to-face consultations on customized asset management. After opening a location in Songdo New City in June, it opened another this month at Yatap Station Financial Center.
It has also enhanced its investment products and made transactions more convenient. Last month, it introduced a subscription service for model portfolios (MPs) dedicated to exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and government bonds for individual investors, and launched an online system for over-the-counter bond trading. It also became the first bank to launch 'guaranteed performance-linked insurance' tailored to the pension payout phase, expanding its management services from accumulation and investment management through payout.
A Hana Bank representative said, "We will continue to do our utmost to ensure that customers' valuable pension assets are managed securely, drawing on our differentiated customer care and competitive products."
Meanwhile, last month Hana Bank launched a retirement-pension-only product, 'Government Bonds for Individual Investors,' which can be purchased directly through retirement pension accounts. These government-issued savings bonds for individual investors are designed to help build stable retirement assets. Through DC and IRP accounts, customers can purchase 10-year and 20-year government bonds in increments of 100,000 won.
