[Financial News] A story about a novice driver who got behind the wheel to take their child to and from daycare and put notices asking for others’ understanding all over the car has come to light, prompting an outpouring of support from online users.
On the 12th, photos of a car covered in novice-driver stickers were posted on the social media platform Threads alongside the message, “Everyone has a first time; everyone has to start somewhere. Hang in there.”
The back of the car in the photos had a notice reading, “I’m taking a child to and from daycare. Thank you for your consideration,” as well as four stickers bearing messages such as “There’s a child on board,” “Extremely inexperienced driver at the wheel,” and “Sorry, I’m a beginner driver.”
The post’s author, A, said, “I noticed there was a novice-driver notice on the side door too,” adding that they wondered whether one had also been put on the windshield.
After the post drew attention online, the car’s owner, B, also left a comment personally.
B said, “A friend told me yesterday that they’d seen my car on Threads, so I came to check it out,” adding, “I was worried there might be a lot of nasty comments like, ‘Why even drive if you’re going to be like this?’ I’m grateful so many people have been cheering me on.”
B went on to say, “Around last year, I learned that my child was developing more slowly, and we started going to a center five to ten minutes away by car in our neighborhood for speech therapy and sensory integration therapy.” B shared how they had started driving themselves for their child despite being a “scaredy-cat with a license that had been sitting unused.”
B added, “I get scared driving around with my child in the car, and to avoid inconveniencing others as much as possible, I made it very clear that I’m a beginner, so I ended up putting these notices on the car. I’m always grateful that so many people give way and even drive while keeping plenty of distance.”
Online users who heard the story responded, “The driver is so cute. I’d give way a hundred times over,” “They’re a beginner driver carrying a child—imagine how nerve-racking every day must be,” and “For a car like this, I’d do more than just give way; I’d escort it from behind during lane changes.”
