[The Financial News] The owner of a bungeoppang stall who attracted attention online for looking like a famous entertainer temporarily suspended business after being unable to cope with the influx of customers.
On the 18th, A, who runs a bungeoppang stall in Cheolsan-dong, Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, posted a notice on Instagram announcing a temporary suspension of business.
A said, “Those who were there when we opened will know, but a district office staff member visited the day before, and we talked about various things. I’m also working another job even before opening, while running the bungeoppang shop, so the physical toll is too great.” He added that he works more than 10 hours a day.
A continued, “I never imagined this many people would come over the past two days. For the reasons above, I’m temporarily suspending business, and it looks like I’ll have to close this weekend.” However, A did not say when business would resume or whether the stall would operate after the weekend.
Earlier, starting around the 16th, A began attracting attention online for good looks resembling actor Cha Eun-woo and friendly service, and was given the nickname “Bungeunwoo,” meaning “Cha Eun-woo selling bungeoppang.”
After accounts of sightings of A and photos spread across various online communities, customers reportedly flocked to the stall, lining up for 1–2 hours at a time.
A said, “I’m truly grateful to everyone who waited, and I’ll do my best so you can enjoy even tastier bungeoppang.”
