[Financial News] BNK Busan Bank (Bank President Kim Seong-ju) said on the 18th that around 200 employees took part in volunteer activities at seven sites across Busan on the 17th as part of its “Autumn Community Work Support” effort.
The volunteer effort differed from the previous approach of organizing activities separately in Busan’s 16 districts and counties. Instead, the city was divided into five regions, with volunteers sent to sites where help was needed.
Busan Bank selected the volunteer sites and activities after consulting with relevant organizations in advance, taking into account the growing need for help with local autumn festivals, preparations for winter and other activities.
The main activities included free meal service for local residents at Wonosa in Haeundae-gu; making upcycled aprons from discarded umbrellas at the Gangseo-gu Volunteer Center; packing snack bundles for multicultural families at Namgwang General Social Welfare Center; putting stickers on storm drains and cleaning up the environment around Seomyeon in Busanjin-gu; and cleaning the grounds of Chungnyeolsa Shrine in Dongnae-gu and helping run the Dongnae Eupseong Festival.
In Yeongdo-gu, employees also took part in “Graffiti Knitting,” selected for Busan Bank’s “Our Neighborhood Win-Win Finance Project.” They helped make knitted covers to help street trees get through the winter and enhance the streetscape, adding the meaning of sharing together on site beyond simply providing project funding.
A BNK Busan Bank official said, “This volunteer effort was organized to identify the kinds of help needed in each area and ensure more practical support reaches sites that need assistance,” adding, “We will continue to communicate closely with local communities and carry out community service activities that meet local needs.”
Busan Bank’s “Our Neighborhood Win-Win Finance Project” is an initiative that invites proposals for locally tailored projects across Busan’s 16 districts and counties and provides funding for selected projects. Projects selected this year are being rolled out across the region in stages.
