Weekly Net Buying and Selling Rankings Among Top-Performing Investors

[Financial News] Top-performing investors have once again stepped up their buying of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. They continued buying semiconductor component and equipment stocks such as Samsung Electro-Mechanics and Jusung Engineering, while also adding power equipment stocks such as Hyosung Heavy Industries.■ Net Buying of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix Grows... SK Square Also Ranks Among the TopAccording to the “Detailed Trading Status of Top-Performing Customers (the 25,000 customers with the highest returns over the previous three months)” provided by Kiwoom Securities on the 18th, the stock investors bought most heavily on a net basis from the 12th to the 16th was SK Hynix, with net purchases totaling 121.3 billion won. Samsung Electronics followed with 102.6 billion won. The two stocks held on to first and second place in net buying, respectively, for a second consecutive week.
Combined net purchases of the two stocks totaled 224 billion won, about twice the 111.5 billion won recorded in the previous tally period, from the 6th to the 8th. Even taking into account that the tally period lengthened from three to five trading days, average daily net purchases rose about 21%, indicating that investors' preference for the two stocks continued.
Interest in semiconductor-related stocks also continued. Samsung Electro-Mechanics ranked third in net buying for a second consecutive week, with 18 billion won. SK Square climbed from seventh to fourth place as net purchases increased from 6.4 billion won to 10.2 billion won.
Jusung Engineering ranked fifth, with 7.5 billion won. Although net purchases were down from 8.8 billion won the previous week, the stock remained among the top-ranked. LG Innotek ranked eighth with 3.9 billion won, while SIMMTECH ranked ninth with 3.7 billion won. Doosan Tesna also made the top 15 stocks by net purchases, with 2.6 billion won.
Yang Il-woo, head of the Global Investment Strategy Team at Samsung Securities, analyzed semiconductor demand, saying, “Although the export unit price of memory semiconductors fell from the previous month in September, the value of exports rose 13.5%,” and, “When the market focuses on the decline in export unit prices, it should pay attention to the price elasticity of demand and the total value of exports.”■ Hyosung Heavy Industries Enters the Top Six... Selective Buying of Battery StocksAmong power and energy-related stocks, Hyosung Heavy Industries ranked sixth in net buying, with 5.8 billion won. Doosan Enerbility climbed from 11th to 10th place as net purchases increased from 3.2 billion won to 3.5 billion won.
Buying trends in battery-related stocks varied by company. Samsung SDI ranked seventh, with 5.4 billion won. Net purchases fell from 7.8 billion won the previous week, and the stock dropped two places from fifth. SK Innovation and POSCO Future M, which had previously ranked sixth and 13th, respectively, were not among the top 15 stocks in this tally. Instead, Daejoo Electronic Materials ranked 13th with 2.8 billion won, and ISU Specialty Chemical ranked 15th with 2.5 billion won. Investors appear to be selecting individual stocks rather than buying battery-related stocks across the board.
Jang Nam-hyun, a researcher at Korea Investment & Securities, analyzed Hyosung Heavy Industries, saying, “The entities placing orders for ultra-high-voltage transformers are expanding from traditional utility companies to data center operators,” and, “With new orders continuing to grow, the company could exceed its annual order guidance of 12 trillion won.”
