[Financial News] The Korea Importers Association has sent an import delegation to Türkiye and France to help domestic companies diversify their import sources and stabilize supply chains. The aim is to identify new business partners through consultations between local suppliers and domestic importers, and to expand trade cooperation into areas such as food and agri-food.
According to industry sources on the 16th, the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) is sending an import delegation to Istanbul, Türkiye, and Paris, France, from the 14th through the 20th. The delegation was organized with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Istanbul Trade Office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
On the 15th, the association held a Korea-Türkiye one-on-one import consultation session with the Istanbul Exporters Association (İİB) at the CVK Park Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul. Local suppliers in consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, food and agri-food, and industrial sectors met with domestic importers to discuss new business partners and potential opportunities for cooperation. The association said that actual contracts were also signed on site in the agri-food sector.
That same day, the delegation visited the Türkiye Exporters Assembly (TİM) and discussed ways to expand trade between the two countries with Vice Chairman Ahmet Öksüz. It then visited Eurasia Packaging Istanbul and BIOEXPO to review trends in the packaging and biotechnology industries and hold consultations with related suppliers.
After completing its program in Türkiye, the delegation will attend SIAL Paris 2026, an international food exhibition held in Paris, France. The plan is to track trends in the global food market, identify new suppliers in the food and agri-food sectors, and help domestic importers diversify their business partners.
Yoon Young-mi, chair of the Korea Importers Association, said, “As the global trade environment changes rapidly, it is important to find new import opportunities through exchanges with a variety of countries,” adding, “We will continue working to help domestic companies identify overseas suppliers and expand international business exchanges.”
