[Financial News] T-Robotics is developing technologies to automate manufacturing processes without human operators using artificial intelligence (AI) and robots. The company plans to extend its expertise in industrial robots and logistics automation into autonomous manufacturing to strengthen its competitiveness in the smart factory business. T-Robotics, a specialist in humanoid and industrial robots, said on the 19th that it would take part in a physical AI-based autonomous manufacturing research and development project.
The project is titled “Development of a Physical AI-Based Fully Unmanned Operation and Predictive Maintenance System for Autonomous Manufacturing of Optical Module Curing Processes.” It is part of the Machinery and Equipment Industry Technology Development Program, led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, with the Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology serving as the specialized agency.
A total of 10.2 billion won in government-funded research and development costs will be invested in the project. Participants include T-Robotics, major domestic companies, and industry, academic, and research institutions such as the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The research will run through December 2029.
The core of the research is to apply physical AI to the optical module curing process and establish a production system that operates without human intervention. The project will also develop predictive maintenance technology that analyzes equipment conditions and process data to identify signs of abnormalities in advance. Its goal is to improve production stability and operational efficiency through process automation and equipment management.
T-Robotics plans to draw on its experience developing industrial robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and automation systems for this research. It will integrate AI-based process control and equipment management technologies into its robots to advance its production automation solutions, and plans to develop technologies that can also be applied at other manufacturing sites in the future.
A T-Robotics official said, “This project is an opportunity to expand the scope of our technology development beyond existing industrial robots and logistics automation into AI-based autonomous manufacturing,” adding, “We will strengthen our competitiveness in the smart factory and next-generation manufacturing automation markets based on the technologies developed through this research.”
