Japanese Travel Package Orders Rise at Least 20% Amid Weak Yen; Shinsegae Live Shopping Targets Premium Kyoto Trips

[Financial News] As demand for travel to Japan continues to grow, Shinsegae Live Shopping is launching a premium travel package that combines Kyoto hot springs with temple experiences.
According to industry sources on the 16th, orders for Shinsegae Live Shopping’s Japan travel packages this year rose by at least 20% year over year. Japan travel package offerings also increased by 35% over the same period in the past three months, and the Japan Kyushu package aired last week achieved 198% of its target, the company said.
Demand for Japan trips remains strong among everyone from families to middle-aged and older travelers, thanks to the relatively short flight times, food, hot springs and natural scenery, the company said. Shinsegae Live Shopping believes the recent weakness of the yen has also contributed to increased travel demand.
Shinsegae Live Shopping will launch a premium travel package on the evening of the 18th, featuring a three-night, four-day itinerary in Kyoto. Built around the theme “Kyoto Hot Springs and Contemplation,” the package offers a choice of departure dates from this coming November through March next year.
The package includes a hotel stay in rooms with private hot spring baths; a private temple tour with explanations from a monk; a traditional Buddhist culinary experience; a visit to Hosen-in Temple; and a kaiseki course prepared by a master of Japanese cuisine. Customers in Seoul and some areas of Gyeonggi Province will also receive round-trip car service to Incheon Airport.
Shinsegae Live Shopping plans to continue launching travel packages that reflect the distinctive features of different regions of Japan through the end of the year.
