[Financial News] President Lee Jae-myung received Chung-Ang University’s first Special Contribution Award since its founding on the 16th. He immediately put on a department jacket gifted to him by junior students and also posed for commemorative photos while holding the school mascot, Puangi.
Kang Yu-jeong, senior presidential spokesperson at the Blue House, said in a written briefing that day that President Lee had attended Chung-Ang University’s 110th-anniversary ceremony that morning. The university selected President Lee as the first recipient of its Special Contribution Award to mark its 110th anniversary.
In his congratulatory address, President Lee recalled that the truth about the May 18 Democratization Movement, which he learned about during his college years, and the values of learning and solidarity he experienced on campus had become a precious foundation that changed his life. Saying that his college years had been truly precious and valuable, he urged students to cherish the time given to them, since time is both life and one’s very existence.
He concluded his address by saying, “To all of you at Chung-Ang, who die for justice and live for truth, I’m rooting for you, and I love you.”
President Lee received a department jacket from the student council president, with “Lee Jae-myung” embroidered on the sleeve, and put it on right away. He then posed for commemorative photos while holding Puangi and continued to accommodate photo requests from students and guests even after the ceremony ended.
Students waiting outside the building welcomed President Lee with cheers and applause, shouting things like, “We love you, Mr. President,” “You’ve got this, Senior!” and “Stay healthy.” One student who met President Lee up close also expressed their excitement, saying, “I’m nervous.”
President Lee toured the campus with university officials and students, including Youngshin Hall and Blue Dragon Pond. After greeting students and members of the public who had been waiting and taking photos with them, he waved as he left the campus.
