【Financial News, Ulsan = Reporter Choi Soo-sang】 Ulju County in Ulsan Metropolitan City announced on the 16th that it will take proactive administrative measures, including launching a joint completion-inspection task force to support the completion of S-OIL’s Shahin Project, the largest single investment project in the petrochemical industry, with a total budget of 9.258 trillion won.
With commissioning of the Shahin Project set to begin in November, the county plans to complete inspections for development activities within the industrial complex by the end of this month.
The inspections will cover 1,012 large-scale facilities, including pipe racks (PIPERACK).
Many of the facilities include large structures and elevated or hazardous areas. With the existing inspection approach relying mainly on visual checks, inspections take considerable time and manpower, making it difficult to complete the facilities’ completion inspections by the deadline.
To ensure the large-scale on-site completion inspections proceed without a hitch, Ulju County has formed a temporary dedicated task force and will concentrate available personnel on close inspections by area and item.
In particular, drone inspections will also be conducted in elevated areas that are difficult to access or hazardous, significantly improving inspection accuracy and on-site safety.
A county official said, "We will provide tailored, proactive administrative support that takes into account the characteristics of large-scale industrial sites, helping the Shahin Project proceed with subsequent work as scheduled," adding, "We will continue to provide field-based administrative support so that the results of corporate investment are realized in a timely manner."
Meanwhile, drawing on the on-site response experience gained during the completion inspections for this large-scale project, Ulju County plans to strengthen its field-based administrative support system for major industrial facilities and corporate investment projects in the future as well.
