[Financial News] Culinary researcher Shim Young-soon, 86, shared the story of being diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer but declared fully recovered about a year later. Shim said that after being told there were only three months left, treatment continued with care from her second daughter.
Shim Young-soon’s experience battling cancer was revealed in a preview broadcast on the 14th for the next episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block. The clip showed Shim recalling the time she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Shim Young-soon said a past health screening had detected her pancreatic cancer. At the time, medical staff reportedly gave her a terminal diagnosis, saying she had three months left.
Shim made an unexpected remark about how she felt at the time. She said, “I’m grateful—to have gotten a cancer that would kill me so quickly.”
However, her second daughter reportedly made food herself to help her mother recover and cared for her at her side.
Recalling how her daughter cared for her, Shim Young-soon said, “My second daughter was trying so hard to save her mom.”
About a year later, Shim was reportedly told that all the cancer had disappeared. After recovering, Shim said her feelings had changed, saying, “Now, I really don’t want to die.”
Born in 1940, Shim Young-soon reportedly battled pancreatic cancer and was declared fully recovered about a year later.
Because Shim had not appeared frequently on broadcasts recently, speculation arose that she might have developed health problems. However, in the preview for You Quiz on the Block, Shim appeared looking healthy and spoke directly about her past experience battling cancer.
