[Financial News] BEXCO, the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center located in U-dong, Haeundae-gu, Busan, is taking the lead in supporting independence and job creation for people with disabilities.
BEXCO (CEO Lee Jun-seung) said on the 16th that it held a donation presentation ceremony in its reception room on the 15th for the Busan Metropolitan City Welfare Center for the Disabled (Director Lee Seung-hee), to support Busan Dongbaek FC, a mixed-gender soccer team for people with developmental disabilities.
The donation will be used to support training and sports activities for Busan Dongbaek FC, which is made up of 17 people with developmental disabilities from the Busan area.
This sponsorship is significant because it goes beyond simply supporting physical activity: it helps people with developmental disabilities build teamwork and social skills through sports, laying the foundation for this to lead to “support for the independence of people with disabilities and job creation.”
Ongoing sports activities help people with developmental disabilities improve their ability to adapt to daily life and communicate, while building core competencies needed to participate in vocational training and enter society.
BEXCO expects these foundations for physical and emotional independence to help create a virtuous cycle that leads to tangible job creation and employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the future.
BEXCO is supporting the social participation of people with disabilities by working to create a barrier-free MICE environment. In cooperation with the welfare center, it supports photo sessions for employment ID photos and appoints wheelchair users to its resident monitoring group to check ease of movement and facilities, among other efforts to create a MICE environment that everyone can use.
BEXCO CEO Lee Jun-seung said, “We hope the players of Busan Dongbaek FC will gain confidence through soccer and become independent, valued members of society,” adding, “We will improve mobility and accessibility within the exhibition center to support the social participation of people with disabilities and continue our genuine ESG management.”
