[Financial News] Streamers who broadcast games, even on a small scale, will have more opportunities to receive funding from Nexon for content production. As Nexon expands its gaming broadcast project—which has seen about 450,000 users link their accounts—into a regular season, it will remove funding caps based on creator tiers. It will also expand rewards for users who watch gaming broadcasts on NAVER CHZZK and Soop.
Nexon said on the 16th that it had launched Season 1 of N Connect with CHZZK and Soop. N Connect is a project that links watching broadcasts of Nexon games with playing the games, while supporting creators’ content production.
During the preseason, which began on Soop in April and on CHZZK in May, about 450,000 users linked their Nexon accounts across the two platforms. A total of 1,414 streamers took part. In the final rankings for each platform, Myeongye Hunjang on CHZZK and Duchiwa Ppukku on Soop each took first place.
The biggest change this season is how creators are supported. Nexon has expanded eligibility to apply for content production funding to creators of all tiers and abolished the monthly funding caps that had varied by tier. Instead, it will review each content proposal and determine the amount of support. Whereas creators’ tiers previously affected both their eligibility to apply for funding and the amount they received, they will now have more opportunities to receive support depending on the content they propose.
Benefits for broadcast viewers will also be expanded. Nexon will extend ‘N Connector-exclusive Drops,’ which let viewers earn game-related rewards by watching gaming broadcasts, from Soop, where they were previously available, to CHZZK. Nexon plans to give small and mid-sized creators the opportunity to participate as well, allowing users to earn game-related rewards through a wider variety of broadcasts.
Nexon will also launch a new official page that brings together participation information from the two platforms. Users can check program applications and support details on the page, as well as view their individual points and rankings. The page is designed to make it easier to find in one place information that was previously split between the platforms.
Nexon will also introduce programs to encourage creators to stay active. It will run ‘N Connector of the Month,’ selecting 10 creators each month based on factors such as their activity and growth. Nexon also plans to roll out the regular broadcast program ‘N Connect Week’ and original content it has developed.
In November, Nexon will hold a participatory event linking broadcast viewing with gameplay. Users will earn experience points by watching broadcasts or playing games, and receive Play Points as they level up.
