[Financial News] Cho Kuk, head of the Institute for Innovation Policy at the Rebuilding Korea Party (RKP), argued in connection with the recently surfaced allegations of “fake credentials” involving the daughter of independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon that “Han Dong-hoon and his wife’s ‘innocence’ and his daughter’s ‘genius’ should be verified through the ‘Han Dong-hoon Special Counsel Act.’”
Cho Kuk revisits the “Cho Min investigation” ... 70 locations searched at the time

On the 16th, Cho posted a message to his social media account making this point and stressed, “We cannot leave this to prosecutors and police, who have already shown bias and a lack of initiative.”
Cho had earlier revisited the prosecution’s investigation into the 2019 case involving Cho Min. He said, “In 2019, under the direction of Yoon Suk Yeol and Han Dong-hoon, prosecutors searched every institution where my daughter, ‘Cho Min,’ had interned or volunteered, as listed on her school records and admissions applications. They emphasized that the hours recorded on documents issued by those institutions exceeded the actual hours of activity, and indicted her.” He added, “As everyone knows, my daughter acknowledged that discrepancy and accepted its legal consequences.”
Cho said, “I could not agree with the court’s guilty verdict on its findings of fact and application of the law, but as a citizen who abides by the laws of the country, I respected and accepted the ruling.” He went on to criticize the fact that “Han Dong-hoon’s daughter, ‘Han Ji-yoon (Alex Han),’ who is called a ‘genius,’ received a certificate of commendation for 20,000 hours of volunteer work. That’s an amount of time possible only for a ‘superhuman,’ not a ‘genius.’”
He stressed, “Twenty thousand hours is the equivalent of working eight hours a day, five days a week (40 hours a week), for 10 years,” adding, “Han Dong-hoon’s side claimed that the volunteer organization, not his daughter, had done those hours. That is still a problem, because the organization did the actual work while Han’s daughter received the benefit.”
Cho’s objection is that “there was no search and seizure in any case, no analysis of the access logs of the organizations where the volunteer work took place, and no questioning of people involved.” He also pointed out, “There was no investigation of Benson, a ghostwriter from Kenya who admitted to ghostwriting Han Dong-hoon’s daughter’s paper. And even after the person who actually created the smartphone app that Han’s daughter developed with a relative when she was 14—and for which she even won an award abroad—came forward, there was no search of the company or questioning of anyone involved.”
He continued, “She received the Seoul Mayor’s Award and the Incheon Metropolitan Council Speaker’s Award after donating 50 laptops, but investigators did not check whether these awards were listed on her school records or whether those records had been submitted when she applied for further education.” He added sarcastically, “And so Han Dong-hoon, his wife, his sister-in-law who is in the United States, and his daughter were all given a pass. How easy, convenient, and fair.”
Calls for a rigorous investigation of Han Dong-hoon’s shameless “political retaliation” counterclaim

Cho criticized lawmaker Han, saying, “The Rebuilding Korea Party made the ‘Han Dong-hoon Special Counsel Act’ a campaign pledge during the April 10 general election and introduced bills three times after the 22nd National Assembly convened, but the Democratic Party of Korea did not respond. We are all witnessing the consequences. He acts as though he were an immaculate apostle of justice, attacking the democratic camp and insulting the late former President Roh Moo-hyun.”
He argued, “Now the final opportunity has come. We must revise the bill and pass it,” adding, “We must respond with a rigorous investigation to the absurd excuse that ‘Han Dong-hoon’s daughter is a genius’ and to the shameless counterclaim that this is ‘political retaliation’ against Han.” He reiterated, “Those who insist that ‘there is no evidence that Han Dong-hoon and his wife were involved,’ even though not a single proper investigation has been conducted, must also be answered with an investigation that seeks evidence.”

Cho said of the chart, “Some details are inaccurate, but I attached it because the comparison is broadly accurate.” /Photo: Screenshot from the Facebook page of Cho Kuk, head of the RKP’s Institute for Innovation Policy.
