[Financial News] LG Electronics’ ultra-slim wireless TV, the LG SIGNATURE OLED W, has been named one of the U.S. weekly news magazine TIME’s ‘Best Inventions of 2026.’ It was recognized for its innovation in combining a 9-mm-range ultra-slim design with wireless video transmission technology to reduce constraints on TV installation.
LG Electronics said on the 16th that the LG SIGNATURE OLED W (W6) was selected for TIME’s Best Inventions in the consumer electronics category. Each year, TIME selects innovative products and technologies that have brought change to everyday life and industry, based on an overall assessment of originality, practicality, boldness and impact. This year, 300 products and ideas in total made the list, including the LG SIGNATURE OLED W.
TIME highlighted how the LG SIGNATURE OLED W overcame limitations in the design and installation methods of conventional Wallpaper TVs. Earlier models had to place key hardware needed to operate the TV separately outside the set to achieve an ultra-slim design. The new model, however, has its main components built into the unit while eliminating complicated wiring around the screen through a wireless connection, TIME noted.
The LG SIGNATURE OLED W is the successor to the Wallpaper TV LG SIGNATURE OLED TV W, first introduced in 2017 as the world’s first of its kind. Ultra-slimming technology was applied to key components, including the panel, power board, main board and speakers, reducing the TV’s thickness to the 9-mm range. Its all-in-one design, with the speakers built in, allows it to be installed flush against a wall.
Its wireless transmission technology has also been enhanced. The TV uses technology that, for the first time in the world, transmits video and audio at 4K resolution and a 165-Hz refresh rate without loss or delay. External devices such as set-top boxes can be connected to the Zero Connect Box, which can be placed up to 10 m from the TV. The Zero Connect Box is also 35% smaller than those for previous wireless TVs, making better use of space.
Picture quality has also been improved. Drawing on the expertise LG Electronics has built up while maintaining its position as the global leader in the OLED TV market for 13 consecutive years, the company applied its Hyper Radiant Color technology. It improved picture quality by combining the latest 3rd-generation Alpha 11 AI Processor with Reflection Free Premium technology, which reduces light reflections.
