[Financial News] LG Uplus Corp. showcased technology that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the causes of declining Wi-Fi quality and identify potential inconvenience to users in advance. It also revealed validation results for next-generation technology that uses AI to analyze and optimize network conditions directly on the router.
LG Uplus Corp. said on the 16th that it had participated in Network X 2026, a global telecommunications and networking exhibition held from the 12th to the 15th at Messe Wien (Vienna International Exhibition Centre) in Vienna, Austria, where it introduced Wi-Fi technology autonomously operated by AI.
Network X is an event where global telecommunications operators, network equipment manufacturers and information and communications technology (ICT) companies share trends in wired and wireless networks, broadband, AI-based network technologies and industry.
At the event, LG Uplus Corp. introduced a quality management technology that uses AI to analyze network quality data collected by access points (APs). The technology identifies the causes of declining quality and alerts users to problems before they experience any inconvenience.
LG Uplus Corp. also presented proof-of-concept (PoC) results for Wi-Fi 8-based Edge AI technology. On a router equipped with a neural processing unit (NPU), AI directly analyzes and optimizes network conditions. A key feature is that the network is managed on the router itself, without going through a cloud server.
LG Uplus Corp. plans to further develop the technology so that AI can identify the causes of disruptions on its own and automatically restore service.
The company also highlighted the commercialization results of Wi-Fi 7 with 6 GHz support, which it introduced last year as the first South Korean telecommunications carrier to do so. The router supports wireless connections using all three bands: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz and 6 GHz.
During the event, LG Uplus Corp. explained its AI-based network operations technology and next-generation Wi-Fi strategy to global telecommunications operators, equipment manufacturers and technology partners. It also exchanged views on the commercialization of Wi-Fi 8 and the future development of AI-based autonomous network technology.
Lee Jin-hyeok, head of LG Uplus Corp.’s Consumer Service Development Lab and an executive director, said, “Through this exhibition, we introduced AI-based network operations technology and next-generation Wi-Fi technology to the global industry,” adding, “We will continue developing these technologies to provide stable network services that customers can experience for themselves.”
