[Financial News] Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. is joining forces with neocloud company VESSL AI to provide financing for the construction of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
The plan is to support the expansion of related businesses by combining securities firms’ structured finance capabilities with the operational experience of AI cloud companies in the GPU infrastructure sector, which requires large-scale upfront investment.
Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Korea Financial Holdings, said on the 16th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on GPU Financing with neocloud company VESSL AI. The two companies agreed to cooperate on projects to build and expand GPU infrastructure.
Under the cooperation framework, Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. will handle financing, while VESSL AI will support the overall execution of projects, drawing on its experience operating GPU cloud platforms. Given the substantial upfront investment required for GPU infrastructure, securing a stable financing base is considered essential to moving projects forward.
Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd. plans to expand its provision of financial solutions for GPU infrastructure projects under the agreement. It will draw on its structured finance capabilities to review legal and accounting matters related to projects, as well as private equity fund (PEF) structuring and financing options. The move extends into AI infrastructure the financial expertise it has built through collaboration with companies and investment institutions.
Bang Chang-jin, head of the PF Group at Korea Investment & Securities Co., Ltd., said, “AI computing infrastructure centered on GPUs is emerging as a new key investment area in global financial markets. Through this agreement, we will explore various ways to cooperate and actively contribute to the growth of Korea’s AI infrastructure industry.”
The agreement is significant because it provides financial support for computing infrastructure whose importance is growing alongside the AI industry. The key will be whether the two companies can develop specific business structures and financing plans and translate them into actual GPU infrastructure construction and expansion projects.
