[Financial News] National Korea Maritime and Ocean University said on the 16th that it had signed an agreement with Dong-gu, Busan, on the 15th and agreed to establish a close cooperation framework between the university and the local community.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will work together on future maritime education, the development of the maritime industry, and regional shared growth, among other areas.
In future maritime education, they will promote education in maritime affairs, ports, logistics, AI and digital fields, operate career guidance and mentoring programs for young people, and strengthen maritime education for local residents.
To develop the maritime industry, they plan to step up university-industry cooperation between the university and local businesses, identify joint projects in future maritime industries such as smart ports and AI and digital technology, and support young people in finding jobs and starting businesses.
To promote shared growth with the local community, the university will actively share its expert personnel and high-quality educational resources, expand education for young people and residents, and broaden university students’ participation in the local community.
The agreement is expected to create synergies by combining the university’s strong educational and research capabilities with Dong-gu’s maritime infrastructure.
President Ryu Dong-geun said, “The agreement with Dong-gu will be an important opportunity to share the university’s outstanding maritime expertise with the local community and accelerate the development of a future maritime hub centered on North Port. Going forward, through practical and close cooperation, we will create an exemplary model of shared growth with Dong-gu, a maritime city.”
