On the 8th, LH President Lee Seong-hun hosted a lunch meeting for operators of YouTube channels covering real estate and public housing near LH’s Seoul Regional Headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Attendees included operators of channels that provide information on housing policy and real estate, such as Jip Nawara Ttukttak!, Ayeong’s Happy Housing and Button Hong.
The meeting addressed ways to supply public housing to meet the needs of different groups, including young people and newlyweds, as well as the need to improve housing welfare programs. In particular, attendees shared the difficulties actual home seekers face when choosing and moving into a home, including issues related to the location and quality of public housing, eligibility and application procedures, and proposed ways to address them.
Challenges involved in successfully developing the Third New Towns were also discussed. Attendees exchanged views on what is needed to create the living environments actual home seekers prefer and on ways to make public housing more competitive.
Ways to communicate information to improve the effectiveness of public housing policy were also raised. The importance of providing information at a level that meets housing seekers’ needs was emphasized, so they would not miss out on support because of complicated eligibility requirements and application procedures.
LH President Lee Seong-hun listened to views from the field and explored ways to improve public housing supply and housing welfare programs. “We are considering many questions, including how to make the Third New Towns better places to live and who should receive rental housing and how it should be provided,” he said. “Please share your views on what you have experienced on the ground and what needs to be improved so LH can continue to develop.”
■ Started with young people’s housing concerns... 30,000 subscribers in a year and a half
Jip Nawara Ttukttak! released its first video in April last year to ease the burden of housing costs on young people and provide practical housing information. Reporters from Financial News’ construction and real estate desk visit locations to report firsthand and explain complicated housing policies in an accessible way.
Initially, the channel focused on information about public rental housing supplied by LH and the Seoul Housing & Urban Development Corporation (SH Corporation), among others. In its signature segment Gonggo Ttukttak, it analyzes rental housing notices and provides details such as eligibility, rent and application schedules. Ttukttak Saenaegi-ban introduces basic information for renters, including eligibility requirements for different rental housing programs and how to use a housing subscription savings account.
With this content, the channel surpassed 30,000 subscribers just a year and a half after releasing its first video and established itself as a source of housing information for young people.
■ From apartment site visits to policy talk shows... expanding its content
Recently, as interest in the real estate market has grown, the channel has expanded its content to include apartment site visits and expert talk shows.
The site-visit series Gabolkkaebi visits major apartment complexes to analyze transport, school districts, local amenities and actual transaction prices. The expert talk show Jipkkaebi’s Journey explains real estate market trends, government policies and the housing subscription system in accessible terms for viewers.
Jip Nawara Ttukttak! plans to continue sharing young people’s housing concerns and providing the housing information actual home seekers need. Related videos can be watched by searching for “Jip Nawara Ttukttak!” on YouTube.
