[Financial News] Woori Financial Group’s Woori Financial Future Foundation is opening its second Goodwill Store in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, and setting out to expand job opportunities for people with developmental disabilities in the area. The aim is to support stable incomes and independence by increasing the number of stores that employ people with disabilities using proceeds from the sale of donated goods.
According to financial industry sources on the 16th, Woori Financial’s Woori Financial Future Foundation held an opening ceremony the previous day for the Goodwill Store Milal Cheongju Heungdeok Branch, a store supporting independent living for people with developmental disabilities in Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province.
Goodwill Store is a workplace for people with disabilities that sells goods donated by businesses and individuals and uses the proceeds to employ people with developmental disabilities. The Cheongju Heungdeok branch is the second store in Cheongju, following the Cheongju Sangdang branch, which opened in September last year. It is the 18th store nationwide supported by Woori Financial.
Woori Financial continues to establish Goodwill Stores to expand employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities living in regional areas. After opening stores last year in Ulsan, Daegu, Ansan and Cheongju, among other places, it opened new stores this year in Hanam, Jeonju and Cheongju. It plans to open another store in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, next month.
Along with expanding its stores, Woori Financial is also encouraging people to donate goods. It operates “Goodwill Donation Boxes” at branches including Woori Bank’s Cheongju Financial Center, and is running the goods-donation campaign “Woori Ga One Season 2” on the Woori WON Banking app throughout this month.
Meanwhile, Woori Financial is working to promote a culture of donation in support of independent living for people with developmental disabilities by operating a Goodwill Store booth at the social-contribution concert “2026 Woori Momocon,” held last month at Seoul Land in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
