[Financial News] A tipster alleged that Chinese customers who were drunk caused a disturbance at a restaurant in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, by spitting on the floor and smoking indoors. According to the tipster, they inconvenienced other diners by making loud video calls even after staff objected.
According to JTBC's Scandal Supervisor on the 15th, the incident took place on the 12th at a restaurant in Suwon. Four Chinese customers reportedly visited the restaurant and got into a conflict with staff.
The tipster said the four customers appeared drunk from the moment they entered the restaurant. Two members of the group could communicate in Korean, but reportedly said they did not know how to use the self-order kiosks installed at the tables and asked a staff member to take their order.
After they started eating, they reportedly spoke loudly and caused a disturbance inside the restaurant. The tipster alleged that some spat on the floor and even smoked indoors.
The tipster witnessed this and protested to the man smoking indoors, asking, "What are you doing right now?" The man reportedly got up, went outside the restaurant, and smoked the rest of his cigarette.
The disturbance reportedly continued even after the tipster intervened to stop the smoking. The group made video calls while talking loudly, to the point that nearby customers felt uncomfortable, the tipster said.
There was also an issue with bringing in outside food. According to the tipster, the group ate banana milk and other items they had brought from outside inside the restaurant, and left their trash behind.
The tipster emphasized that the issue was not about a particular nationality, but about the need to observe basic etiquette in places used by many people, such as restaurants. The tipster said, "Basic rules of conduct need to be observed in public places, regardless of nationality," and added, "I sent in the tip because I wanted to bring the issue into the public discussion so that incidents like this would not happen again."
