[Financial News] Regional briefings will be held for local governments and cultural institutions tasked with implementing the “Third Basic Plan for the Promotion of Regional Culture” at the local level. The final briefing, in the Chungcheong region, will also be held online, allowing cultural and arts professionals and members of the public to participate.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 16th, briefings on the “Third Basic Plan for the Promotion of Regional Culture (2026–2030)” will be held in six regions nationwide from the 20th through November 6. They are intended for officials from metropolitan and local governments, as well as representatives of regional cultural institutions such as cultural foundations and local cultural centers.
The briefings will explain the vision and key strategies of the Third Basic Plan, announced on September 15, and share guidance on how metropolitan governments should draw up regional culture promotion implementation plans reflecting it.
The Basic Plan for the Promotion of Regional Culture is a statutory plan established every five years under the Regional Culture Promotion Act. Local government heads are also required to formulate, implement and evaluate implementation plans every five years, reflecting the national basic plan and suited to local circumstances.
All the briefings will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Ministry will explain the basic plan, followed by presentations from metropolitan governments on their approach to preparing implementation plans and answers to attendees’ questions.
The regional schedule is: the 20th, Southeastern region (Challenge Hall, Busan); the 22nd, Daegu-Gyeongbuk region (Grand Auditorium, Daegu National Museum); and the 27th, Seoul and Gangwon (Challenge Hall, Seoul).
The remaining briefings will be held on the 30th in the Honam region and Jeju (International Conference Room, Asia Culture Center); on November 3 in Incheon and Gyeonggi (Auditorium, Hall 1, Suwon City Lifelong Learning Center); and on November 6 in the Chungcheong region (main auditorium of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Government Complex Sejong).
The Chungcheong-region briefing can also be attended via the Ministry’s official YouTube channel. Details on how to participate online will be posted later on the websites of the Ministry and the Regional Culture Promotion Agency.
“We will make this briefing a forum for the central government and local regions to share policy directions and jointly consider implementation plans suited to local conditions,” a policy official at the Ministry said.
