The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and the Korea Performing Arts Tourism Association said on the 15th that they will run ‘Korea In Motion,’ a campaign to promote performance tourism for foreign visitors, through November 30.
The campaign aims to promote nonverbal performances, musicals and plays as tourism experiences visitors can enjoy while traveling in Korea. It will offer special promotions in partnership with online travel agencies (OTAs) in key inbound markets, including China, Japan, Taiwan, the United States, Hong Kong and Singapore, along with discounts on performances.
For the first time, the campaign will also offer experiences linked to attending performances. After seeing ‘The Painters,’ visitors can try marbling art with the performers, or make souvenirs using props from ‘NANTA.’ Visitors can also try taekwondo associated with ‘JUMP’ and traditional Korean instruments associated with ‘Youngjae Haneumhoe.’
Showcases featuring key scenes from participating productions, including ‘Anarchist’ and ‘Finding Mr. Destiny,’ will be held on the 17th and 18th and the 24th and 25th of this month at the outdoor plaza at HiKR Ground in Seoul’s Jung District. Through the 29th, HiKR Ground and the Daehangno area will also offer performance information and on-site events, as well as opportunities to try AI smart subtitle glasses.
Baek Man-seong, head of KTO’s Hallyu Content Team, said, “We are developing products that combine performances with hands-on experiences so foreign tourists can enjoy Korean performances without a language barrier,” adding, “We will step up promotion and marketing so that attending performances can become a reason to visit Korea.”
