“Convenience store manager by day, painter by night” ... GS25 features a franchisee’s artwork on cupholders

[Financial News] GS25 is launching limited-edition Cafe25 cupholders featuring the work of artist Choi Jong-won, who is both a franchisee and a practicing painter. All royalties generated by the collaboration will go toward supporting children’s art education.
According to industry sources on the 15th, GS25 is rolling out limited-edition Cafe25 cupholders featuring Choi’s works “Wildflowers” and “Snowdrop” at stores nationwide starting that day. The cupholders will be used for all hot items on Cafe25’s menu.
Choi has continued his artistic work while in his fourth year of running a GS25 store in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province. On social media, he has shared glimpses of his life as a “convenience store manager by day, painter by night,” as well as the process of creating his work.
The collaboration was created to offer encouragement to people pursuing their dreams in their own fields. “Wildflowers” captures the joy and happiness Choi felt when he first tried oil painting and conveys support for new beginnings, while “Snowdrop” offers comfort and hope to those going through difficult times.
GS25 is also rolling out Cafe25’s “For Dreamers” project as part of this collaboration. Going forward, it plans to continue sharing these messages through collaborations on works that tell the stories of a range of people, including customers and franchisees.
Choi will donate all royalties generated by this collaboration to the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation. The funds will be used to support art education for children who have difficulty continuing their art activities.
“We wanted to share the story of franchisee Choi Jong-won, who has continued to pursue his dream of becoming a painter, and convey to customers the messages of encouragement and comfort in his work,” said Lee Jeong-pyo, head of the marketing division at GS Retail.
