[Financial News] Kookmin University is presenting a special exhibition combining rubbings of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok with AI video technology to mark the university’s 80th anniversary.
Kookmin University’s Myungwon Museum announced on the 15th that it will hold the special exhibition ‘Echoes of a Millennium, Future of a Century’ in the museum’s permanent exhibition hall from the 16th through February 26, 2027.
The exhibition reinterprets through modern AI technology the value of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok, a representative cultural heritage of the Unified Silla period with a history spanning more than 1,200 years. It explores ways to preserve and pass on cultural heritage by presenting together traditional rubbings—made by pressing the bell’s shape and patterns onto paper—and cutting-edge AI video.
The exhibition comprises two spaces. The first features an AI video created to connect the historical value of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok with Kookmin University’s 80-year history.
The second space showcases nine original rubbings of the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok held by Myungwon Museum. Visitors can take in at a glance the bell’s detailed forms and patterns—including the dragon-shaped suspension loop, the sound tube, the striking point, and flying apsaras—as well as the inscriptions carved on the bell.
The exhibition is one of various commemorative projects being undertaken by Kookmin University to mark its 80th anniversary. The university plans to continue exploring new ways to connect traditional culture with modern technology while taking a fresh look at its historical assets.
A Myungwon Museum representative said, “This exhibition is an opportunity to shine a light on both the Divine Bell of King Seongdeok, which has endured across 1,200 years, and Kookmin University’s 80-year history,” adding, “Through the meeting of traditional rubbings and AI technology, we wanted to show new possibilities for preserving and passing on cultural heritage.”
