[Financial News] Students in the Department of Media at Hanyang University ERICA Campus won awards in succession at two domestic film festivals for a short film they made as part of their regular coursework. The achievement is seen as the result of industry-academia-linked education that combines theoretical instruction at the university with hands-on experience in the industry.
Hanyang University ERICA announced on the 15th that ‘Life Map,’ a short film made by students in the Department of Media, received the Jury Special Prize at the 10th Chungju Short Film Festival and the Special Mention Award at the 16th Chungmuro Short Independent Film Festival.
The students in the Department of Media—Jung Yu-na, Jung Yeon-woo, Kim Se-hyang, Kwak Da-in and Yoon Chae-eun—formed a team and completed the film in the ‘IC-PBL (industry-academia-linked problem-solving)’ course taught by Professor Kim Heon in the second semester of the 2025 academic year. Working with the film production company Lee Sang-woo Film, the students incorporated industry expertise and hands-on experience into their coursework as they made the film.
The Department of Media at Hanyang University ERICA offers a practice-oriented curriculum supported by video production equipment and facilities, and since the start of this year, its students have achieved success at domestic film festivals and in various competitions.
Professor Kim Heon of the Department of Media at Hanyang University ERICA said, “This award is a valuable result of the students’ passion and collaboration, and is especially meaningful as a tangible achievement of the IC-PBL program run in partnership with the film production company Lee Sang-woo Film.” He added, “Going forward, we will make active use of our outstanding video production infrastructure and industry-academia collaboration network to support students in creating a variety of works and showcasing their abilities at film festivals and competitions in Korea and abroad.”
