Man in his 70s kills wife while under domestic violence separation measures; captured after fleeing

【Financial News, Jeonju = Kang In, staff reporter】 A man in his 70s who killed his wife while subject to separation measures following domestic violence has been arrested by police.
Police said on the 15th that they had urgently arrested Mr. A, who is in his 70s, the previous day on suspicion of murder.
His wife, Ms. B, was found dead at around 5 p.m. on the 14th at a multi-unit residential building in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju.
Police responding to a report of bloodstains found Ms. B dead from stab wounds.
Police apprehended her husband, Mr. A, in Seocheon, South Chungcheong Province, at around 8:40 p.m. that same day. Mr. A is believed to have fled by car from Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, to Seocheon, South Chungcheong Province, after the crime.
Mr. A had been subject to all three of the court’s provisional measures for stalking his wife, Nos. 1 through 3. He had reportedly committed domestic violence several times before. He had also sent dozens of resentful text messages to his estranged wife.
Police had received several reports from Ms. B and classified Mr. A as high-risk, but were unable to prevent the crime.
Immediately after the crime, Mr. A also behaved strangely, writing on a wall at the scene: “Couples make up within a week after a fight; the police incited murder.”
He had ingested poison before being arrested by police, but was conscious and reportedly not in a life-threatening condition.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crime and plan to seek a warrant for his detention.
