[Financial News] Major global companies, including Hyundai Motor Company and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (Qualcomm), have joined the Korea AI·Robot Industry Association as new executive member companies.
The Korea AI·Robot Industry Association said on the 15th that it had recently held a board meeting and appointed these major global companies as new executive member companies, while welcoming semiconductor packaging specialist STATS ChipPAC Korea as a new full member. With the new members’ arrival, Hyundai Motor Company will serve as a vice-chair company, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. as a board member company, and STATS ChipPAC Korea as a full member, with all three directly participating in the association’s operations and key projects.
The association said, “This expansion of our membership is intended to break down barriers between advanced industries such as automotive, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, and broaden the base of Korea’s AI and robotics industry.” It added, “In particular, the addition of Hyundai Motor Company, a global leader in finished vehicles and robotics; Qualcomm, which has on-device AI and semiconductor technologies; and STATS ChipPAC Korea, a global semiconductor back-end services company, is expected to maximize synergies across industries.”
The association plans to link the new members’ industry-specific expertise and networks with its key projects and actively pursue proposals to improve policies and institutions to foster industry growth; promote proof-of-concept (PoC) projects in emerging AI and robotics sectors; support entry into global markets; and develop models for cross-industry collaboration and convergence.
Korea AI·Robot Industry Association Executive Vice Chairman Baek Seok-tae said, “Global innovative companies representing their respective industries, including Hyundai Motor Company, Qualcomm and STATS ChipPAC Korea, have joined the association with a shared purpose.” He added, “We will stay in close communication with member companies across the country, working on the ground to promote the convergence of AI and robotics technologies. We will focus the association’s capabilities on building an ecosystem that enables Korea to lead the global AI and robotics market.”
