On the 15th, the Korea Authority of Land & Infrastructure Safety said its Honam Regional Headquarters had signed an agreement that day with the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Agency’s Southwest Sea Branch to ensure safe fishing village infrastructure and promote mutually beneficial ties with local communities.
Under the agreement, the two agencies will support safety inspections and technical consulting for aging and vulnerable facilities in fishing ports. They also plan to provide construction safety training to strengthen on-site safety management capabilities.
The agencies will also work together to boost the local economy and tourism. They will establish a channel for communication to encourage spending in fishing communities, and carry out joint environmental cleanup activities, including marine litter collection, as well as promote tourism resources.
The agreement also includes a joint campaign for socially vulnerable groups. The agencies plan to ensure safe living environments for older adults and protect the labor rights of workers at hazardous worksites, while raising awareness of the need to respect the right to equality of multicultural families and foreign workers.
The two agencies plan to expand their cooperation, working together to ensure the safety of local residents and tourists and create a sustainable environment for fishing village tourism.
