[Financial News] Go Chang-hoon, CEO of EM&I, bought 130,000 company shares on the open market.
EM&I, an organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials company, announced on the 15th that CEO Go had acquired shares. After the purchase, Go's holdings rose to about 392,000 shares.
The company said the purchase was prompted by sales performance in its heavy water business and the growth potential of the all-solid-state battery materials sector. It said CEO Go had made a long-term investment after comprehensively assessing the company's competitiveness and future corporate value.
The heavy water business generated about 3.5 billion won in revenue this year. This month, the Heavy Water Board (HWB), which is part of India's Department of Atomic Energy, finalized plans to bring in an additional 5 tonnes of heavy water. Including the 3 tonnes imported in February, the cumulative amount secured reaches 8 tonnes. The company expects stable raw-material supplies to enable it to increase production of deuterium-substituted materials and continue growing sales.
Work to establish production facilities for the all-solid-state battery materials business is underway. After opening the EM Energy Materials Center in June, the company began bringing in manufacturing equipment for oxide-based solid electrolytes in July. Its goal is to produce at least 100 kg this year following facility construction and trial runs, and increase production to 600 kg next year.
An EM&I representative said, "With the heavy water business generating revenue and additional raw materials secured, we now have the conditions in place to expand the business," adding, "We are also establishing a production system in the all-solid-state battery materials sector, and view the medium- to long-term outlook for both businesses positively."
