[Financial News] Recently, news emerged belatedly that action actor Kim Hyun-yi had died. Photos of theater actor Kim Hyun-yi, who shares the same name, have reportedly been mistakenly circulated online, causing harm. Kim Hyun-yi has announced plans to take legal action.
On the 14th, Kim Hyun-yi posted on social media (SNS): “In connection with the news of the death of someone who shares my name, photos of my face have been mistakenly posted as if they were photos of that person, and are spreading across various sites.” The issue arose when photos of the namesake Kim Hyun-yi were posted on online communities, YouTube and other social media platforms as people reported the deceased’s passing.
Kim Hyun-yi said, “I am a completely different person from that individual, and I am suffering serious harm and mental distress.” Kim added, “I have secured all the relevant materials and am taking the necessary legal steps, including requesting that the posts be deleted.”
Kim Hyun-yi also urged, “If you have seen any related posts or are mistaking them for stories about me, please make sure you understand that I am not that person.” Kim added, “Please refrain from indiscriminate sharing so that false information does not spread any further, and if you find any related posts, please let me know.”
Meanwhile, action actor Kim Hyun-yi died in a traffic accident last August while traveling to a shoot. News of the death came to light after tributes to the actor were shown at the end of SBS TV’s recently premiered “Doctor X: The Age of the White Mafia” and tvN’s “100 Days of Lies.”
