[Financial News] Garmin has launched the Enduro 4, a GPS smartwatch that can run for up to 90 days in smartwatch mode using solar charging. Designed for ultra-distance races and outdoor activities lasting several days, it features enhanced battery management, training and navigation capabilities.
The Enduro 4 features an energy-efficient 1.4-inch memory-in-pixel (MIP) display and a solar charging lens. Under specified usage conditions, including solar charging, it can run for up to 90 days in smartwatch mode and up to 320 hours in activity mode. The recommended retail price is 1.39 million won.
The newly introduced “Comprehensive Power Mode” adjusts battery life and tracking performance to suit the activity. It records short, high-intensity workouts precisely in “Maximum Accuracy” mode, while “Maximum Battery” mode extends runtime for long-distance races or expeditions.
A feature for adjusting workout intensity in mountainous terrain has also been added. “Elevation-Adjusted Pace-Based Workout Targets,” which account for gradient, help users maintain an appropriate intensity on ascents and descents, while “Elevation-Adjusted Rolling Pace” displays real-time pace as the terrain changes.
It also features “Stamina Zone” and “Stamina Curve,” tools for analyzing fitness. Users can see how their current stamina affects activity and how their endurance changes based on their training history. The watch supports more than 100 activity profiles, including trail running, long-distance hiking and backpacking.
Navigation has been upgraded with 50% more RAM than the previous model and an improved map engine, increasing map-panning speed by up to 30%. The newly added “Perspective View” provides a three-dimensional representation of terrain nearby and routes farther away to help users determine their direction of travel. The watch also offers “Garmin Epic,” a feature that brings together activity data and photos from multiple days so users can review and share them.
The 51 mm case model weighs 66 g and features a titanium bezel, a scratch-resistant Power Sapphire lens and a fiber-reinforced polymer case. It has a 10 ATM water-resistance rating and a built-in LED flashlight with white and red light. Storage capacity is 64 GB. The “ComfortFit” fabric band, introduced to the Enduro series for the first time, is designed with long wear and sweat wicking in mind.
Alongside the product launch, Garmin introduced Garmin Trail, a service featuring 3,840 outdoor activity routes in Korea. It provides details such as each route’s difficulty and elevation, user ratings and reviews, and whether dogs are allowed. The service is available through the subscription service Garmin Connect+.
Susan Lyman, Garmin’s vice president of global consumer sales and marketing, said, “The Enduro 4 is designed for athletes and outdoor users who need reliable performance at every moment during long races and expeditions.” She added, “The Comprehensive Power Mode will help users make efficient use of the long battery life, while elevation-adjusted metrics will enable them to train systematically and manage their pace even in mountainous terrain.”
