[Financial News] Hanwha Corporation's Construction Division is rolling out a reporting system that uses voice recognition and artificial intelligence (AI) to help prevent workplace accidents among construction workers and promote a broader safety culture.
According to Hanwha's Construction Division on the 15th, it has newly introduced the Safety Quick Report, which adds voice recognition to its existing Safety Reporting System, as well as an AI photo-analysis feature.
The Safety Reporting System allows workers to identify and report hazards at work sites themselves so that they can be addressed. Previously, workers had to report hazards by phone or access a safety and health platform via QR code, attach a photo and enter the hazard details themselves.
The upgraded Safety Quick Report lets workers describe a hazardous situation at the work site in the language set on their mobile phone and submit a report after their speech is converted into text. The new feature also enables workers who are not used to typing to participate in reporting.
An AI-powered hazard-analysis feature has also been added. When a worker uploads a photo from the site, AI identifies hazards shown in the image and recommends corrective measures that take relevant legal standards into account. This allows the system to identify not only problems workers spot themselves but also potential hazards captured in the photos.
Submitted reports and the status of follow-up actions are managed centrally on the safety and health platform. Hanwha's Construction Division plans to further strengthen the virtuous cycle of voluntary safety activities, from reporting through on-site improvements.
“It is important to create a safety management environment that everyone can use easily, including foreign and older workers,” said Yunhae Kim, head of the Safety, Environment and Management Office at Hanwha's Construction Division. “Going forward, we will continue to improve and promote the Safety Reporting System by combining voices from the field with AI technology, fostering a safety culture in which workers participate voluntarily.”
