[The Financial News] Bitcoin fell to around $81,000 amid rising inflationary pressure in the US.
According to global crypto asset data platform CoinMarketCap, Bitcoin was trading around $81,000 at 10:30 a.m. on the 15th, down 1.68% from the previous day (on a 24-hour basis).
Bitcoin is trading at around 110 million won on the Korean won market. The Korea premium was 0.17%, according to Cryprice, a global crypto market comparison platform.
The decline is believed to have been driven by the US Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September, released on the 14th local time, which rose more than the market expected. The US September CPI inflation rate was 3.7%, above the market expectation of 3.6%.
New York stocks also fell across the board. On the 14th local time, the S&P 500 fell 1.79 points (0.02%) to 7,805.45, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 180.51 points (0.35%) from the previous session at 51,670.04. The tech-heavy Nasdaq closed down 41.52 points (0.15%) at 27,204.38.
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index provided by CoinMarketCap stood at 50 that day, indicating “neutral.” The index ranges from 0 to 100: readings closer to 0 indicate “extreme fear,” while those closer to 100 indicate “extreme greed.”
At the same time, Ethereum was trading around $2,419, down 3.18% from the previous day. Ripple was trading around $1.32, down 3.02%.
