According to BS Hanyang on the 15th, B-ON is an on-site, technology-focused AI built on Microsoft (MS) Copilot. It was trained on integrated in-house technical materials, including construction manuals and guidelines for each trade, structural design guidelines, and standard construction drawings.
While the company’s existing in-house AI chatbot mainly handled corporate support functions such as human resources, general affairs and information technology (IT), B-ON focuses on helping apply technical standards at construction sites, including those for architecture, structural work, mechanical and electrical services, and ancillary civil engineering.
For example, if a field staff member asks, “Tell me the standards for tile installation and quality control,” B-ON responds based not only on general construction methods but also on the technical standards BS Hanyang applies in-house.
It also displays the titles of the technical materials and the relevant pages that support its answers. Direct links to the original documents let staff check the accuracy of AI responses on site.
BS Hanyang previously operated separate platforms for mechanical and electrical manuals and a generative AI chatbot, but technical materials were scattered across multiple systems, making it difficult to find the information needed. To address this, the company formed a task force (TFT) and brought the dispersed materials together in B-ON.
Technical staff took part directly in development, without relying on outside companies. The aim is to improve efficiency in on-site work, shorten the time new employees need to acquire technical skills, and build up experienced staff’s know-how as a corporate knowledge asset.
The company plans to train field staff to use the system this month, then expand its use to all sites.
B-ON was developed as part of “AI management,” which BS Group named as one of its four key priorities for this year. BS Group is pursuing the development of the National AI Computing Center and an AI Data Center Park in Solaseado, Haenam, South Jeolla Province, while also expanding the use of AI in its affiliates’ operations.
