[Financial News] Ahead of World Food Day on the 16th, LG Electronics will screen a campaign video on outdoor billboards in New York’s Times Square and at Piccadilly Circus in London. The video features people from all walks of life working to solve food problems.
LG Electronics plans to help tackle hunger around the world, including by providing meals to vulnerable groups in key countries where it operates overseas.
LG Electronics said on the 15th that it will screen, from the 13th through the 23rd in local time, a campaign video produced by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), “Innovate Today, Nourish Tomorrow,” on its outdoor billboards in the United States and the United Kingdom. The video carries the message that everyone’s efforts together can lead to solutions to food problems.
This initiative is part of LG Hope Screen, a global corporate social responsibility program that LG Electronics has run since 2011.
LG Hope Screen is an initiative that screens public-service videos from international organizations and NGOs on LG Electronics billboards in New York and London to raise shared awareness of global issues.
LG Electronics also provides meal assistance to vulnerable groups in key countries where it operates overseas.
In Indonesia, the company provided meals to residents of the village of Pasir Langgu in West Java Province, affected by a landslide earlier this year. In cooperation with a local health center, it also supported growth monitoring and health checkups for affected children. In India, it ran the Life’s Good Nutrition Meal Campaign, providing breakfast and lunch to 120,000 students at public schools in 16 states to address malnutrition among young people. The company is also working to tackle hunger by donating food to vulnerable groups in Iraq, Singapore and elsewhere.
In South Korea, it operates a donation-menu program.
The program offers meals with fewer side dishes in employee cafeterias and sets aside a donation each time an employee chooses one. The funds are used for volunteer activities, including providing food assistance to vulnerable groups.
LG Electronics Executive Vice President Yoon Dae-sik, who oversees external relations, said, “We will continue a range of activities to help tackle hunger, including promoting public-service campaigns and providing meals to vulnerable groups, and fulfill our role as a global corporate citizen.”
