[Financial News] The Tongmyong Cultural Foundation, a school foundation (Chairman Kang Gyeong-su) and Tongmyong University (President Lee Sang-cheon) announced on the 15th that they are accepting nominations for the industry and service category of the 17th Tongmyong Award through November 9.
The Tongmyong Award is one of Busan’s leading public-interest awards. It honors individuals who are from Busan or active mainly in the city and have made outstanding contributions to industrial development and social contribution through a spirit of creativity and challenge.
This year, one recipient will be selected in the industry and service category and receive a trophy and 20 million won in prize money.
Eligible nominators include executives of the Tongmyong Cultural Foundation, a school foundation; heads of registered organizations in various fields of society and professionals; recipients of internationally prestigious awards; past Tongmyong Award recipients and former members of its judging committees; and officials at director level or above at public institutions. Self-nominations are not accepted.
The 17th Tongmyong Award ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on December 3.
The Tongmyong Award was established to carry on the spirit of challenge, creativity and service of the late Chairman Kang Seok-jin, known as Dongmyeong, who founded Tongmyong Wood, a former local enterprise, and the Tongmyong Cultural Foundation. Chairman Kang is known as a business leader who contributed to Korea’s exports, industrialization and modernization.
