[Financial News] Residents of an apartment building in Incheon are reportedly suffering because a man keeps pounding on the ceiling day and night with what appears to be a rubber mallet.
On the 14th, JTBC’s “Sageon Banjang” featured the account of a tipster identified as A.
According to A, a man living in an apartment building in Incheon had a dispute with a former upstairs neighbor over inter-floor noise. The neighbor moved out last month, but the man is reportedly continuing to hammer at the ceiling of the now-vacant unit above him.
Footage released showed the man on the floor below striking the ceiling with what appeared to be a rubber mallet while people who had come with a real estate agent to view the vacant unit looked around on the 3rd.
A said in frustration, “I heard the noise and went over to confront him, but he denied it. There was even a time when I watched him for an hour.”
Some residents living near that floor have reportedly moved out because they could no longer tolerate the noise.
A notice was posted by the elevator saying, “Many residents are suffering from noise caused by hammering. Please refrain from doing this.” Residents filed complaints with the city government with jurisdiction over the area.
Police responded after residents called, but the man reportedly said, “I can’t open the door without a warrant.”
Police have reportedly responded about five times so far, but the man continues to deny making the noise.
However, police are reportedly in a difficult position because there is no clear solution to the inter-floor noise problem.
