[Financial News] Samsung Electronics has begun expanding its 6G collaboration with major global telecommunications companies in Silicon Valley, U.S., sharing AI-based next-generation network technologies. The company plans to accelerate efforts to secure technological leadership in the future communications market by unveiling development results for key technologies, including “AI-native 6G networks” that apply AI across telecommunications networks, satellite communications, and integrated communications and sensing.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 15th that it would hold Partner Day and the Silicon Valley Future Communications Summit 2026 in Mountain View, Silicon Valley, U.S., on the 14th and 15th (local time). Around 100 telecommunications experts, including representatives from global mobile carriers, manufacturers, government agencies and academia, will attend to discuss the evolution of networks in the AI and 6G era and ways to collaborate across the industry ecosystem.
At Partner Day on the 14th, key topics included changes in the telecommunications industry amid the spread of AI and software-based network strategies. Samsung Electronics assessed that AI is transforming not only services but also telecommunications infrastructure as a whole, and forecast that intelligent networks combining AI and virtualization technologies would create new communications services and business opportunities.
Jung-ho Park, vice president and head of the Strategy Marketing Team in Samsung Electronics’ Network Business Division, said, “In the AI era, networks are evolving into intelligent infrastructure that can understand the diverse demands of a flood of new services, adapt flexibly through virtualization, and provide optimal solutions. By incorporating advanced AI technologies, we will develop telecommunications infrastructure into a new engine for growth.”
Discussions at the Silicon Valley Future Communications Summit on the 15th will focus on three topics: AI-native 6G networks, expanding the reach of 6G services through satellite communications, and hyperconnectivity technologies that link the real and virtual worlds.
Key topics will include technologies that use AI to improve network performance and operational efficiency, the expansion of communications services using low Earth orbit satellites, and technologies that combine communications and sensing. Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) is a key 6G technology that uses the same frequencies and hardware to provide communications and detect the surrounding environment simultaneously.
Samsung Electronics will also showcase key 6G technologies developed jointly with global partners. These include AI RAN, which combines AI with a radio access network; high-density multiple-input multiple-output communications systems (X-MIMO); distributed multiple-input multiple-output communications systems (D-MIMO); and integrated communications and sensing technologies.
The company plans to present validation results on communications performance with AI applied across all layers of the radio access network, data transmission performance in the 7-gigahertz (GHz) band—a candidate frequency band for 6G—and improvements in communications quality in boundary areas between base stations.
Samsung Electronics is also expanding joint research and field testing with global telecommunications operators. This year, it began collaborating with LG Uplus Corp. to develop integrated communications and sensing technologies, and conducted field testing with Verizon Communications Inc. at a major sporting event held in Dallas. It is also strengthening 6G research partnerships with major telecommunications operators at home and abroad, including SoftBank, NTT DOCOMO, KDDI Research, KT and SK Telecom Co., Ltd. (SKT).
Jin-guk Jeong, vice president and head of the Next Generation Communications Research Center at Samsung Research, Samsung Electronics, said, “Samsung Electronics is leading the development of key network technologies that will help make 6G a reality through close collaboration with partners across the telecommunications industry. We will bring together our advanced research capabilities to advance next-generation communications technologies for both operators and users.”
