[Financial News]  Apple has reached a historic milestone, surpassing a $5 trillion market capitalization (about 6.7 quadrillion won) at the closing bell for the first time ever.
According to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 14th (local time), Apple had previously topped a $5 trillion market cap intraday six times, but this was the first time it had held above that level through the close of trading.
Apple shares closed at $342.96 apiece that day, giving the company a final market capitalization of $5.005 trillion.
Unlike Apple, shares of Oracle, Meta, Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon and Google all fell that day.
The record valuation was reached a little over a month after incoming CEO John Ternus took the helm at Apple, succeeding Tim Cook, and three days before preorders for its next-generation product, the “iPhone Duo,” were set to begin.
Apple shares have risen about 5% since Ternus took office on Sept. 1.
Apple briefly overtook Nvidia last July to become the world's most valuable company, but Nvidia later reclaimed the crown. With a current market capitalization of $5.33 trillion, Nvidia continues to hold the top spot worldwide.
Apple is scheduled to report its quarterly results on Nov. 2.
