[Financial News]  A photo showing trash believed to have been left by passersby strewn outside a restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan, has been posted online, sparking outrage.
According to Yonhap News TV and other outlets on the 14th, a photo of a restaurant in Gwangalli was posted that day on the social media platform Threads, along with the message: “I feel sorry for the owner here. It always seems to end up like this after a weekend evening. Hang in there, boss.”
The photo showed trash, including drink cups, plastic bottles and beer cans, left on the steps beside the restaurant entrance. The trash is believed to have been discarded by passersby.
Netizens who saw the photo poured out criticism, saying, “Once one person starts littering, everyone piles on,” “There are so many people with no basic manners,” and “It’s stressful just looking at it.”
Some netizens also said, “This happens because there’s nowhere to throw things away,” and, “Please install trash cans throughout areas that attract many tourists.”
Under the current Waste Control Act, people who illegally dump household waste somewhere other than a designated place or facility may be subject to an administrative fine. The amount varies depending on the type of violation, but can be as high as 1 million won.
