[Financial News] A special event offering bonus points and prizes to people who take part in exercise will be held for Sports Day. There will also be hands-on programs where families can try a variety of sports, including flag football and tennis.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the 15th, the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO), the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) and other related organizations are running programs to encourage people to take part in sports in their daily lives in celebration of the 64th Sports Day.
KSPO is holding a special points event for Tuntun Money members. Among members who exercise at least three times a week from the 12th to the 18th of this month and submit the correct quiz answer, 8,000 will receive prizes worth 5,000 won, and 50,000 will receive an additional 1,000 points.
At around 400 private sports facilities, including gyms, that offer simple fitness assessments and are part of the “National Fitness 100 Partners” program, participants in assessments from the 12th to the 26th of this month will receive a special credit of 3,000 points. Prizes will also be awarded by lottery.
Tuntun Money is a program that awards points redeemable for sports gift certificates when people exercise for at least 30 minutes. Participants scan a QR code to check in when they start and finish exercising at a participating facility. Regional facilities where points can be earned can be found on the National Fitness 100 website.
The Sports Value Center in Jinju, South Gyeongsang Province, will host the “Sports Value Day Festival” from the 16th to the 18th. Around 5,000 people are expected to take part, with activities including flag football, mini golf and face painting.
The Korea Biathlon Union will hold an electronic-rifle experience session for 300 adults on the 24th at Mir Stadium in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. The Korea Tennis Association will run a family experience class for 50 beginners on the 25th at Seogwipo Tennis Courts in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.
An awards ceremony for a short-form video contest on sports activities using artificial intelligence (AI) will also take place at Olympic Hall on the 15th. Fourteen teams were selected as winners from among 385 entries. The general division grand prize goes to Kim Chae-eun, a fourth-year student in Kyung Hee University’s Department of Physical Education, while the student division grand prize goes to “Teresa Girls’ High School Gajigajideul” from Busan.
Sports Day was designated as “Physical Education Day” in 1963, and its name was changed following the enactment of the Framework Act on Sports in 2021. This year’s 107th National Sports Festival will be held in Jeju from the 16th to the 22nd.
Kim Dae-hyeon, Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, “We will continue to expand the foundation for sports participation so that everyone can experience and enjoy sports suited to their circumstances and interests.”
