Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Roque made the remarks at a pre-event for Manila FAME 2026, held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, Manila, on the 14th. The event, which showcases products combining the Philippines’ distinctive craft techniques with contemporary design to global markets, drew attention with the attendance of Philippine First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos. The Philippine government is actively pursuing plans to leverage products that combine traditional crafts, contemporary design and sustainable materials to boost the country’s competitiveness in the global home and lifestyle market and expand the export base of local manufacturers.
Manila FAME, organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an export-promotion agency under the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry, is one of the Philippines’ leading international lifestyle trade shows. Launched in 1983, it has supported exports by Philippine manufacturers and artisans by introducing products that combine traditional crafts with contemporary design to overseas buyers. Now in its 74th edition, the event will run for three days, from the 15th to the 17th, under the theme “Bloom.”
Around 400 Philippine manufacturers and brands will take part in the exhibition, showcasing furniture and fashion and lifestyle products.

The exhibition will also run a program to support product development by local businesses. At “Artisans Village,” around 50 businesses from areas including Bohol, Kalibo in Aklan province, Tarlac and Isabela will develop new products under the guidance of international experts and designers. The program is characterized by its use of region-specific techniques and sustainable materials, including natural-fiber weaving, piña fabric and woodcraft.
At “Design Commune,” 20 businesses have developed 90 prototypes in home décor and lighting. “Home at FAME” will showcase 40 pieces of furniture and lighting products made by 10 participating companies.
A sustainability event will also be held alongside the exhibition. The Sustainability Solutions Exchange (SSX), taking place at the Philippine Trade Training Center, will cover circular-economy strategies, eco-friendly technologies and sustainable business practices for exporting companies.
