[Financial News] Soongsil University has officially launched its commemorative projects committee and begun preparations in earnest for a leap forward, ahead of the 130th anniversary of its founding in 2027.
Soongsil University said on the 14th that it held the launch ceremony for the 130th Anniversary Commemorative Projects Committee on the 8th at Hyungnam Hall in the Hyungnam Engineering Building in Dongjak-gu, Seoul. The event was organized to reflect on Soongsil’s history and identity and to share the direction and plans for commemorative projects aimed at a new leap forward.
At the launch proclamation ceremony that day, the three co-chairs—Oh Jung-hyun, chairman of the board of the Soongsil University Foundation; President Lee Yun-jae; and Hong Deok-cheon, acting chair of the alumni association—marked the start of the committee with a ceremony in which they pressed a launch button at the center of the stage. About 80 people attended, including members of the commemorative projects committee and steering committee, as well as other university-affiliated and external participants.
In his 130th anniversary declaration, President Lee Yun-jae emphasized, “We will prepare for a new leap forward for the next generation, based on the Christian spirit and our founding philosophy.”
Next, Jo Seung-ho, head of the 130th Anniversary Commemorative Projects Task Force, presented the goals and implementation plans for the projects marking the university’s 130th anniversary. The event concluded with all attendees taking a commemorative photo and sharing a luncheon.
Soongsil University plans to use the launch ceremony as a springboard to move ahead in earnest with projects commemorating its 130th anniversary in 2027, carrying forward Soongsil’s history of faith and education and realizing its vision of nurturing future talent.
