[Financial News] The KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation’s Red Meal Truck visited seniors in Daejeon and served them a warm meal. Employees of KT Group affiliates headquartered in Daejeon also joined in community giving, taking part in everything from meal preparation to serving.
The KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation said on the 14th that it held a free meal service with kt cs and KT Service South as part of the Saranghae Red Meal Truck program at Yudeung Senior Welfare Center in Seo-gu, Daejeon, on the 13th.
The Red Meal Truck is the foundation’s flagship social contribution program. The mobile meal-service vehicle visits vulnerable communities and disaster-stricken areas nationwide to provide free meals. Run by the foundation since 2016, it has carried out at least 300 activities over the past 10 years.
The activity was organized to support local seniors through the joint efforts of KT Group affiliates based in Daejeon. Some 30 employees from the companies took part as volunteers, including kt cs CEO Lee Chang-ho, KT Service South CEO Oh Tae-seong, and foundation Executive Secretary Lee Min-seok.
Starting early in the morning, the volunteers used the Red Meal Truck to transport ingredients and prepare meals. At lunchtime, they served samgyetang to 320 seniors from vulnerable communities who visited the welfare center and checked in on them. A separate coffee truck provided coffee and other drinks to enjoy with the meal.
Park Myeong-rae, director of Yudeung Senior Welfare Center, said, “I am deeply grateful to the volunteers for taking such thoughtful care of the seniors’ health by providing samgyetang and drinks as the seasons change.” He added, “It was a meaningful gift that brought great comfort and energy to seniors in the community.”
The foundation plans to continue its charitable activities supporting vulnerable communities in cooperation with KT Group affiliates in each region.
Foundation Chairman Lim Jong-taek said, “Through the Red Meal Truck, KT Group affiliates in Daejeon came together as one and were able to share warmth with local seniors.” He added, “We will continue our charitable work to bring hope to neighbors in need by strengthening cooperation and coordination among affiliates across the regions.”
