[Financial News] CES 2027 is expected to spotlight three key areas shaping the AI era: AI semiconductors, vertical AI and agentic AI. Leading Korean companies including Samsung, LG, SK hynix, Hyundai Mobis and Kia will take part in CES 2027. Among semiconductor companies, AMD, Cadence and MediaTek also plan to exhibit and set up booths at CES.
The U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organizes CES, the world’s largest information technology (IT) and electronics exhibition, held a press briefing at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 14th, presenting key technology trends and global innovation developments.
At the briefing, CTA President and CEO Kinsey Fabrizio and Bosch Korea representative Marcello Lusuardi held a discussion on Korea’s role as a global innovation hub; Bosch’s long-term investment cooperation in Korea; global future technology innovation and global cooperation; and CES 2027 and key technology trends.
AI is expected to be the central focus of CES 2027, with AI agents set to receive in-depth attention. CES Foundry, which covers AI and quantum technology, will run for three days—one day longer than before. A dedicated area for AI agent companies will also be introduced.
Exhibits on infrastructure such as AI semiconductors and memory, vertical AI specializing in health care, manufacturing and cybersecurity, and physical AI—in which AI moves through a robot body in the real world—will also expand. Semiconductor companies including AMD, Cadence and MediaTek will set up their own booths and take part in the exhibition.
In robotics, the scope of the exhibition will expand to include manufacturing technologies.
The Las Vegas Convention Center’s North Hall will showcase robots’ capabilities and use cases, while South Hall 3 will feature components, manufacturing technologies and automation solutions.
Keynote speakers will include Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa and Waymo co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana. Lenovo Group Ltd. will once again hold its own event, Tech World, at the Sphere in Las Vegas during CES. CEO Yang Yuanqing will also return as a keynote speaker this year.
CTA Vice President of Marketing and Communications Melissa Harrison said, “About 800 Korean companies took part in CES this year, and about 400 of them were startups,” adding, “Next year, a range of companies including Samsung, LG, SK hynix, Hyundai Mobis and Kia plan to attend.”
Meanwhile, CTA released the results of a consumer survey conducted last July, which found that 70% of Korean respondents use AI at work and about half (47%) use AI every day. Korean respondents were also found to save an average of 8.2 hours of work time per week through the use of AI.
